Beniers was selected second overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first-ever expansion team selection. He made his NHL debut in 2022 and finished the season with three goals and nine points in 10 NHL games. In his first full NHL season, Beniers was named the Kraken representative at the 2023 NHL All-Star Game. He played in 80 regular-season games, leading all rookies in points and goals, and was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy as NHL Rookie of the Year.
