2023-24 Upper Deck E-X 2000 Hockey Hobby Box

Release date: 2025-03-12

2023-24 SkyBox E-X 2000 Hockey has its head in the clouds. Upper Deck's throwback-style series draws much of its inspiration from the early days of the E-X - specifically the 1996-97 E-X 2000 Basketball.

What you'd expect from a hobby box:

  • Inserts - 8
  • Parallels - 2

Like the recent Metal Universe series, the inserts feature bigs like those of the late 1990s. This is also a product where autographs are on the checklist but are not guaranteed.

The complete base set includes 150 cards. This includes 50 rookies found in every other pack. Despite this, the overall quantities of all veterans and first-year players are about the same.

In terms of design, Upper Deck retains the cloudy backdrop for which the original set is known. Parallels include:

  • All-Access Credentials (1:108 packs, Rookies - 1:216 packs)
  • Credentials - /499
  • Blue Credentials - /299
  • Essential Credentials - /99
  • Gold Essential Credentials - /50
  • All-Access Gold Credentials - /10
  • Printing Plates - 1/1
  • VIP Credentials - 1/1

Autographs and inserts:
Although not included in every box, autographs combine to add up to around four per box. That's about one in every three hobby boxes.

One place to find them is Autographics, a name synonymous with both SkyBox and early autographs as a whole. Beginners have 1:140 packs, while veterans have 1:280 packs.

Seven further sets of inserts feature on the SkyBox E-X 2000 Hockey 2023-24 checklist. As with the nearly 30-year-old inspiration version, rarity varies.

Star Date 3000 is the easiest to obtain with 1:6 hobby packs. Parallels include Speckle (/99), Gold Speckle (/25) and Printing Plates (1/1). Some cards also receive Autographs (1:576 packs) and Gold Speckle Autographs (1/1).

Index Movers are slightly more difficult to print, with 1:7.5 packs. They feature the same assortment of parallels, including some autographs.

Net Assets (1:27), Hall or Nothing (1:30) and Reverberation (1:40) are a little more difficult, but not rare.

For those looking for rare inserts, there's E-Xceptional (1:576 packs) and Double Helix (1:288 packs). Double Helix has gold parallels that are 10 times more difficult to obtain (1:2,880 packs).
