2025-26 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey marks the 27th edition of a product launched in the late 1990s, and once again promises plenty of nuggets for collectors rushing to open packs and boxes of the new season's first premium product.

Hobby boxes contain six cards, guaranteeing an autograph or diamond relic, three inserts, souvenir or technical cards, an Exquisite Collection card and a basic or parallel card.

As has been the case for many years, the basic series has a print run of 349, although the list of 95 cards including veterans, recruits and legends is the smallest for this product since the 2020-21 edition.

Collectors can find base parallels colored green (/10) and gold (/1).

But it's the Diamond Relic parallels that most excite collectors in the basic series.

Parallels include Clear Diamond (/5) with between one and four diamonds embedded in the card, and Upper Deck repeats the trick with black diamonds on rare 1/1s.

Some basic cards will also be available in Premium Relic and/or Autograph versions.

Gem cards

As the first high-end field hockey release of the new calendar year, the Rookie Card Hunt will be launched for collectors, with a particular focus on cards from the Diamond Relic Rookies collection.

Cornerstones of Black Diamond, these rookie cards (/99) feature between one and four diamonds embedded in the card, and also include Emerald (/10) and Pure Black (1/1) parallels.

Other returning gem series include Band of Color (/25 for veterans and /26 for beginners) and Gemography (/25).

In the Band of Color series, collectors discover a rainbow of colored gemstones and can also find a 1/1 Pure Black parallel.

Gemography cards are autographed and feature an inlaid diamond. Parallels include Emerald (/5) and Pure Black (1/1).

Jewels continue in Diamond Stars, Diamond Legends and Diamond Futures, a trio of /10 offerings that all have a 1/1 Pure Black parallel.

Autographs, memorabilia and relic cards

Autographed memorabilia cards play an important role in Black Diamond, including two sets dedicated to rookies: Auto Rookie Team Logo Jumbo Patches and Jewels of the Draft.

There's also a new souvenir set: the manufactured captain's patches (/99), which will also be available in autographed version.

Additional inserts

The insert themes continue to play on the idea of diamonds, but without the stones being embedded in the cards.

Rookie Gems (/399) return with red (/100) and green (/10) parallels, as do Diamond Facet (1:10), Diamond Gallery (1:10) and Diamond Stars, Legends and Futures (all /249).

Three other inserts include Diamonation, Diamond Might and Rookie Diamond Cutters, all /99.

2025-26 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Hockey

Although Upper Deck no longer holds the sports licenses that made Exquisite Collection the go-to high-end brand among collectors, it hasn't disappeared. In field hockey, Upper Deck's top-of-the-range product is The Cup, but the company markets Exquisite Collection cards as part of some of its other releases throughout the year.

As in previous years, this process begins with Black Diamond.

Standard Exquisite Collection inserts start with Veterans and Rookies (both at /399), and both releases have Gold (/99) and Gold Spectrum (/25) parallels.

Other Exquisite concepts include:

• Rookie Day Draft (/349) - Rookies in this series have two parallels, a Gold (/75) and a Gold Spectrum numbered according to their position in the draft.
• Stanley Cup Heroes (/299) - This is a new series, with Gold (/99), Silver Spectrum (/25) and Gold Spectrum (/5) parallels.
• Moments (/99) - Memorable moments come to the fore here, as do the Gold (/49) and Gold Spectrum (/25) parallels.

Memorabilia also find their way onto Exquisite cards in sets like these, all of which feature a variety of parallels:
