Expected release date: 2025-10-15

Box of 12 packs

Pack of 12 cards

Case of 12 boxes

2025-26 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey is the start of this season's flagship line. Two more installments will eventually follow (Series 2 and Extended Series), but this is where things get started. This includes the Young Guns rookie cards as well as some familiar inserts like UD Canvas and UD Portraits.

While some things change from year to year, Upper Deck Hockey has its traditions. It starts with the basic set, which is another 250-card affair.

What to expect from a Hobby box (on average):

  • Blue Dazzlers - 1
  • Bustle, Compadres, Sizzle Reel or Tracking System - 8 Total
  • Compositions, Cup Quest, Goal Oriented or UD Portraits - 8 total
  • Encore - 4
  • Parallels Speckle Inserts - 2
  • UD Canvas - 4
  • Parallels Clear Cut, UD Canvas black and white or Encore blue - 1 total
  • Outburst Parallels - 1
  • Young Guns - 6
  • Additional serially numbered cards, short runs or printing plates - 1 total

The final 50 are the cornerstone of the Young Guns subset, which showcases a variety of recruits. That said, due to the series' early release, collectors shouldn't expect 2025 draft picks or Opening Night debuts until the next series. The focus is on the rookies of the 2024-25 season.

Young Guns are distributed every other pack, or six per hobby box.

Parallels for the 250 cards include:

  • Outburst Silver - 1:15 packs, Young Guns 1:60 packs
  • Clear Cut - 1:48 packs, Young Guns 1:144 packs (hobby only)
  • Deluxe - /250
  • UD Exclusives - /100
  • Outburst Red - /25
  • Brillant - /10
  • Outburst Gold - 1/1

Selected base cards also have a few rare spin-offs. First of all, there are the Variations, which come in packs of 1:2,000. Snow Spray base autographs come in packs of 1:4,000.

Inserts

The 2025-26 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey checklist features a large number of inserts. Many will be familiar to those who have collected or even dabbled in Upper Deck field hockey in recent years. However, a few new elements have also been added.

The first 120 UD Canvas cards of the season can be found in Series 1. The Veterans are 1:4 packs, while the Young Guns are 1:24 packs. There are two levels of parallelism: Black & White (1:48 packs, Young Guns 1:144 packs) and Printing Plates.

UD portraits (1:5 packs) adopt a new artistic style. They are complemented by Speckle (1:40 packs), Red (/199) and Gold (/25) versions.

Colored Dazzler inserts are back. They start with blue, one per hobby box. Pink (1:144 packs), gold (1:2,880 packs) and green (1:4 blaster packs) are also available.

Graduated cards are the inspiration behind Population Count. Although not serially numbered, each card is limited to the number indicated on the front. Levels include 1,000, 500, 100, 50, 25, 10 and 1.

Holotypes are back with a hologram background. The 1:504 packs are extremely durable. They are also exclusive to Series 1 and will not appear again this season.

Bootleg (1:1 440 packs) is one of the new inserts in 2025-25 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey. The 18 cards in this set use a different design.

Other insert themes include Compositions (1:5 packs), Sizzle Reel (1:5 packs), Tracking Systems (1:5 packs), Bustle (1:8 packs), Cup Quest (1:8 packs), Goal Oriented (1:8 packs), and Compadres (1:10 packs). All these cards also have Speckle, Red (/199), Gold (/25) and Printing Plate (1/1) parallels.
