Box of 8 packs

Pack of 3 cards

Case of 16 boxes

2024-25 Upper Deck Synergy Hockey focuses on the hunt more than a traditional set. It's not just one challenge, but several layers in the checklist. This includes the basic set.

And while autographs are one of the elements of the hunt, that doesn't mean collectors will find them in every hobby box. Like previous versions of Synergy, autographs are not a boxed hit. Instead, they are inserts and parallel cards.

What to expect from a hobby box:

  • Autographs, metal cards, numbered base cards or Rookie Red SP - 1 Total
  • #1 Hits, Generators, Monuments, New Game or Start Your Engine - 5 Total
  • All-Star Assembly, All-Synergy Team, d2d, Drop the Hammer or Waffleboarded - 1 Total
  • Colors - 3
  • NHL Impressions - 3
  • Rookie Journey or Synergistic Duos - 3 Total
  • Red Parallels - 8

The basic 2024-25 Synergy set isn't very large. It features just 125 cards divided into four sections: Veterans (#1-60), Legends (#61-75), Rookies (#76-115) and Rookies SP (#116-125). You'd think that with such a small list, it would be easy to complete. Not so. In fact, the opposite is true.

Standard base cards are extremely difficult to obtain. Veterans and Legends have only 15 numbered copies each, while Rookies and Rookies SP are limited to 24 copies.

This is an instance where parallels are much more plentiful. Red versions, average out to one per pack. Those found in hobby boxes can also be used for the set's Bounty program. Half of the Red parallels in hobby packs have a code on the back. Those that complete the set of 125 cards and register their codes through the program's website fast enough are eligible for exclusive cards not available in packs. The first 10 to finish get a set of Gold parallels plus a set of Gold Cast for Greatness cards. The next 15 receive just the base Gold parallel set.

Base cards also have Purple parallels that are numbered to 99. Select Purple cards have autograph versions that have no more than 99 copies each for rookies, 65 or less for vets and 35 and under for greats.

The 2024-25 Upper Deck Synergy Hockey checklist contains a few stand-alone autograph inserts, but these are difficult to obtain. The Sygnatures are 1:160 packs, while the New Game Sygnatures are 1:320 packs. Both have serially numbered Red Backcheck parallels as well as single-copy Gold Checkmate versions. Rookie Sygnatures are also in play with 1:120 packs. Red Backcheck are the only parallels here.

With base cards and autographs in short supply, this means a lot of inserts are needed to complete the product. As with most releases, it's a mix of new and returns.

Colorways is a major new release. Comprising 100 cards (veterans, recruits and legends), these folders are in 1:4 format. Parallels are brightly colored with neon yellow (1:10 packs), neon blue (/99), neon pink (/49), neon green (/25) and gold (1/1).

NHL Impressions adopts a progressive approach based on different themes. Superstars are packs in 1:10 scale, Rookies in 1:14 scale, Guardians in 1:20 scale and Greats in 1:40 scale. Superstars, Rookies and Goalies have Magenta (/599), Green (/149) and Gold (1/1) versions. Grand parallels are smaller, with only Magenta (/299) and Gold (1/1) versions. Some NHL Impressions cards also feature autographs.

Other insert themes making an appearance include New Game (1:6 packs), Generators (1:8 packs), Start Your Engines (1:8 packs), Monuments (1:9 packs), #1 Hits (1:16 packs), All-Star Assembly (1:32 packs), Drop the Hammer (1:40 packs), All-Synergy Team (1:67 packs), and Interdimensional (1:128 packs).

Rookie Journey returns with a new batch of first-year stars. Each player in the series has three different cards: Home, Away and Draft. Each version is a 1:27 pack with additional red (/499), green (/199) and gold (/25) parallels.

The same goes for Synergisitc Duos, which have interconnected versions of Current Stars, Star and Great, and Star and Rookie. The basic versions of each are 1:23 packs with all Red (/499), Green (/199) and Gold (/25) versions.

StarQuest is also back. They are quite difficult to obtain in 1:64 scale. Parallels are Lime Green (1:150 packs), Violet (1:700 packs) and Gold (1:3,200 packs).

Waffleboarded (1:45 packs) and Cast for Greatness in metal (1:60 packs) also return. Cast for Greatness signatures are numbered to 25 copies.
